Town are reportedly keen on signing West Brom defender Carl Hoefkens during the January transfer window. The 30-year-old defender was a regular in the West Brom side that was promoted from the Championship last season, but has made just two appearances so far this season for Tony Mowbray's side.

Hoefkens recently said he may have to drop down a division in order to play first team football regularly, it is believed that Town manager Jim Magilton and chief scout Steve McCall recently saw the Belgium international in action at a West Brom reserve game.

He is out of contract in the summer at West Brom and could be a direct replacement for Alex Bruce who currently appears to on his way out of Portman Road.
