Reading are reportedly keen on signing Town defender Daniel Harding when his loan at Southend expires in the new year. The 24-year-old defender is on-loan at League One side Southend until January and currently appears to be on his way out of Portman Road at the end of his contract in the summer, however Reading could sign the former England U21 international for a nominal fee in January.
Town have been linked with 32-year-old Stephen Carr, formally of Newcastle United but currently a free-agent after being released by Newcastle at the start of the summer. Former Town defender Hermann Hreidarsson could also replace Harding in the Town squad.
