Wright Delighted

Richard Wright is delighted to have returned to Portman Road, 7 years after leaving to join Arsenal. The 30-year-old ‘keeper enjoyed the best spell of his career at Town before leaving for the bright lights of Highbury followed by Goodison Park and Upton Park but it has come full circle and Wright has returned to Portman Road and he couldn't be happier.

Wright: "It's great to be back here and it feels like I've come home.

"It seems like it the move has gone on forever. I was desperate for the deal to be finished and the last weekend has been the longest of my life. I thought everything was going to be done on Friday but it dragged on.

"Doubts cross your mind about whether things are going to happen when a move drags on and I was literally waiting by the fax machine at the Club for the forms to come in from West Ham today so that I could see the move completed.

"I'm delighted that everything is now done and I can't wait to get started.

"There are still a few faces around the place that I remember from before. I obviously know Jim (sorry the gaffer) well from before and he's a great character who can get the best out of the players.

"I'm joining at an exciting time as well. The club is moving in the right direction and everything is ready for the Premier League.

"It will be difficult, the Championship is clearly a tough league but there is a lot of good feeling about the place. You can sense that everyone is very positive that we can get back in the Premier League very soon and that's my first priority coming here, to help Ipswich win promotion."

Don't be so cynical. He'll be fine, but then agaain there's been a few fine keepers over the last few years and they've been and gone! I guess we'll have to just wait and see but my guess is Wrighty's face'll fit no matter what!
