No Ameobi Bid

Shola Ameobi's agent Steven Denos says Newcastle United have received no bids for the player he represents despite reports claiming Town had bid £4 million for him. According to reports just about everywhere yesterday Town had bid £4 million for the 26-year-old former England U21 striker, but his agent says that's not true.

Denos: "As far as I'm concerned, Ipswich have not put a bid in for Shola. There has certainly been no dialogue from Newcastle to me to the effect a bid has been submitted from any club at this stage.

"Our position is that we will be willing to talk to any club that puts a bid in to Newcastle that is acceptable."

Good is all I can say, I don't see him being worth £4 million to us
