Town opened up a 4 point lead over the teams outside the play-off places, after beating Blackpool 2-1 at Portman Road earlier today.
Town were the better team from the word go, but oddly it was Blackpool who created the first meaningful chance of the game, when Wes Hoolahan fired just wide from 25-yards after just 3 minutes.
From there on it was Town doing all the attacking with Blackpool struggling to break down Town's defence, while their own defence seemed to have problems with the Portman Road pitch with both their centre backs needed replacing before half time.
David Norris headed Dan Harding's cross just wide and Alan Lee fired the ball into the underside of the bar from 25-yards, annoyingly it came back out and was cleared away.
Velice Sumulikoski got his first goal for Town 5 minutes into the second half, Velice fired home from inside the box to finally break the deadlock.
Tommy Miller had his shot saved by Rachubka's in the 53rd minute and in the 58th minute Town secured the points when Jon Walters placed the ball into the net from Alan Lee's pass.
Paul Dickov got a goal back for Blackpool in the 89th minute, despite being flagged for offside by the referee's assistant.

Quinn might be still suffering a bit from the injury that kept him out of the Palace game.
Mr magic has picked the same starting 11 from Tuesday night.
Half-time 0-0, very drab if I'm honest, even with all the chances named above.
5th placed Charltown are winning, we can't slip up again can we??
STEP IT UP ABIT BOYS!!!!
Harsh Leggi. Commentators spoke well about Miller, even saying he's carried on were he left off after a good game against Palace. You've got it bad for him aint you! Good game but as usual all the approah play is very good but the end product is pizzle. If we could show some composure in front of goal, we'd be top. Charltown are doing us a favour imo as I've not given up on winning this division!
I PICKED SUMI FOR FIRST GOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!! BTW!
He's made a scrote of me there it's true! We're right though Leggi, we've dominated this and should be streets ahead. Good job I did a bit on Town outright or I'd stickin my head in the oven!
Who cares! Pity Charltown can't show some bottle. that goes for Scunthorpe last night too! We could easily get into an automatic promotion place with a run.
2-1 Dicheadkov has scored a bizarre goal, Linesman put his flag up for offside Dicheadkov carried on playing while our backline stopped he rounded the keeper and scored and the ref gave it as a goal
Town stay 6th in the table, a point behind Charltown and with a nice little 4 point gap between 7th placed Burnley and 8th placed Hull, although they both have games in hand on us.
Very, very tough game for next week away at Stoke, anybody going??? I think Mickdee is.
Good win there, although by reading the above and scanning the match report, it sounds as though it should have been more!
Hull 1-1 Colchester- Colchester do us a favour
Charlton 2-2 Watford- Probably what we'd hoped for, Keeps us in touch
Leicester 4-0 Norwich- Norwich humiliated, Can't ask for much more
Between now and the end of the season, Stoke is possibly our hardest game and if we're able to get something out of that, Happy days and Promotion becomes a real possibility.
i was there yesterday a good game should of had more, why was the most expensive player we had playing out of position (norris), he's better than miller. the new boy velice was out outstanding, played the easy and simple balls. the front two, lee and walters had no really effective service in first half, did alot of the donkey work themselves, worked themselves into the ground, we have no attacking wingers with pace expect haynes. the two front two need more supply thats why pablo and lee ain't scoring
