Jim On Connolly

Town manager Jim Magilton has played down speculation linking Town with a move for Sunderland striker David Connolly. Reports yesterday suggested Town hade made an enquiry for Connolly and it was confirmed today that Sunderland had received an enquiry but Jim says any enquiry hasn't come from Portman Road.

Jim: "It's that time of the year for newspaper stories with the January transfer window opening.

"It's just speculation and no more than that. I guess we will be linked with players through the month until we get the players we want in the building."
