Town moved up to 2nd in the Championship behind Coventry on alphabetical order alone following the 1-0 win against Crystal Palace at Portman Road earlier today. Town manager Jim Magilton was aware that Town had been lucky in front of Sky Sports cameras last season and he was hoping this season would be the same and so far so good, just a shame only 19,382 turned out to see it.
Palace defended well and in numbers which often caused Town problems in the final third of the pitch although Palace also found it hard to break down the Town back line.
Palace should have been reduced to ten men when goalkeeper Julian Speroni was only booked despite handling the ball outside of the box late on the first half.
As it turned out the decision not to send Speroni off did not matter a great deal as Jon Walters leaped above the Palace defence to head home the only goal of the goame in the 72nd minute.
