Preston Not After Lee

Preston North End manager Paul Simpson says he has not made an enquiry about Town striker Alan Lee. Simpson has lost David Nugent to Portsmouth and it had been reported that he wanted Alan Lee to replace the striker but he denies it.

Simpson: "That's not true - Alan Lee is not a player I have enquired about.

"I am not saying he isn't a good player. But he is not the one I am after.

"I have someone else in mind who I am prepared to wait for. I hope I can bring him in, but it does not look like it is imminent.

"It may be later on in pre-season.

"The fee is a decent one. But at the moment his club just won't let him go.

"So we have got to bide our time and see whether the situation changes."

How ever Hull are again reported to be wanting to sign the 28-year-old who scored 17-goals for Town last season.
