Leeds United chief executive Shaun Harvey has written to Town to say sorry for the actions of a small section of the Leeds Support on Saturday.

Mr Harvey wrote: “To all Ipswich Town supporters who attended Elland Road on Saturday 28th April, 2007.

 

“I am writing on behalf of both the club and the vast majority of Leeds supporters to apologise for the actions of a minority of our supporters whose behaviour, during the pitch invasion that occurred, was indefensible.

 

“To all those Ipswich supporters who were injured by the actions of our so-called supporters we hope you make a speedy recovery. And to those for whom the experience of witnessing the events is giving them second thoughts about attending fixtures to watch Ipswich away from Portman Road in the future then please be assured that what you saw on Saturday was the exception not the rule.

 

“The actions of a few are condemned by both the club and the majority of our supporters.

 

“I think the reaction both during the incident and post-match from the majority of genuine Leeds fans spoke volumes for their thoughts as to the behaviour of the minority that get this club a bad name.

 

“While we will not meet next season in the league, we look forward to you all returning to Elland Road in the future where the welcome will be a warm one and not a repeat of Saturday.

 

“The club will be working with West Yorkshire Police in the forthcoming weeks to identify as many of those as possible involved on Saturday and when they are caught, can expect a lengthy ban from Elland Road.

 

“Once again, I apologise for the actions of a minority of our supporters that spoilt the day.”
