No Need To Sell

Town chairman David Sheepshanks has once again said Town will have no financial need to sell players in January.

Sheepshanks: “I can assure Ipswich Town supporters that Jim has money to spend on his squad when the January transfer window opens, I can't confirm an exact figure, that would be folly but it's a substantial figure - not by Premiership standards - but certainly by Championship levels.

“Jim and his staff have been actively scouring the country for players to bring in but they must be the right players, players that fit into the team and ethos the manager is building here.

“We knew that when Jim took over and outlined his plans, that it was going to take time for those ideas to come to fruition.

“Along the way there is going to be highs and lows and we have seen that this season but we have to look at the bigger picture and the bigger picture is built around the young players we have at this Club being given the time to develop into a team that can take this Club back to the Premiership.

“That may take one year, two years, three years but everybody at this Club is working towards that goal and I'm confident we will get there.

“And while I have stressed that Jim will have money to spend in January, I also can reiterate, as I have said before, that because of the hard work put in by so many people at this Club and the fantastic support we have received by the fans, we are under no financial pressure to sell any players in January.

“It will be a case of players coming in, not going out and any sales will be strictly made for football reasons and not financial ones.”
