Chaotic End

Don't Ask Me!

Blues failed to win their last home game going down to a narrow 17-15 defeat to Cov. To be brutally honest it could have been a bigger defeat as we were under the cosh in the first half. However, the game will be longer remembered for a refeering hiatus when Coventry lost their two tightheads - it took ten minutes to sort out.

None of the various officials on the pitch and in atendance seemed to know what to do.

Go to unopposed, of course,  but should Cov withdraw another player or not? The proverbial book of laws had to be pulled out of a kitbag to be referenced. In the end Coventry retained 15 and Blues lost their scrum advantage.

Was it the right decision? Who knows as the laws revolve around yellow cards, red cards, head injury assessments and so on. Yes the offficials should come prepared with the answer to every question,  but you have to have sympathy with them.

Perhaps it's better for the Ref to make a decision, whether right or wrong, and talk about it afterwards not during the game. After all the officials do sometimes get things wrong.

Last game of the season next week at Scottish. Mike Rayer clocking up a remarkable 500th game in charge. He deserves a better game in every sense.
