On loan to the A's with any luck

Irish will be coming as favourites. It will test the character of Blues who, as underdogs last week, stepped up against Jersey.

Slow starts are not an option and Blues need to get on the front foot from the start.

There needs to be an improvement in penetration to get over the gain line and then hold on to the ball. Lines of running and offloads (where safe) in the tackle will be pivotal to putting pressure on Irish to make them make mistakes.

Very much hope that the whole squad turns up, unlike a fortnight ago.

Looking forward to coming up on Saturday for hopefully a great game by both teams, meeting new fans and maybe catching up with one or two old friends.

Can't remember Topsy Ojo playing for Bedford? I do remember watching Andy (Obo) Orogboh play against Hertford - he was big Johns favourite player

Well, that performance was a significant improvement on a fortnight ago. We need to take that attitude into every remaining game for the remainder of the season.

After the first scrum there was a little concern but problems were in the main fixed and Blues did well. For those of us who are old timers it was nice to see proper hooking.

The understanding between players and between forwards and backs was markedly improved. It was a superb first half effort marred only by a silly yellow that cost the lead. The Irish try was controversial I understand. Irish were put under pressure from the off and forced into errors and those errors were capitalised on.
There are areas for improvement, some first up tackles were missed and maintaining that first half intensity, for example. But, the pride and the passion is back in the Blues game and whilst intensity might have reduced marginally in the second half players conditioning is evidently very high.

Continue in this vein and Bedford will begin to climb back up the Division, who knows even as far as the play-offs.

In general the Officials did well and alongside the players made for an entertaining game.
