It is understood that Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Michael Chopra have been told that they can leave Portman Road in the summer by manager Mick McCarthy.

Neither player has been able to hold down a regular first team place since McCarthy was appointed manager of the club and with a year to run each on their contract, it seems that Town have decided to cash in on the players before they can leave on a free transfer in around 12 months time.

Chopra signed for Town for £1.5M from Cardiff City in the summer of 2011 after several attempts to bring the player to Portman Road failed in the previous two years. The former Newcastle forward netted 14 goals in his first season at Portman Road finishing as the club's top scorer despite having a number of problems off the field involving gambling but further off-field problems this season have saw him drop down the pecking order at the club.

Emmanuel-Thomas also joined Town in the Summer of 2011, from Premier League giants Arsenal for an undisclosed fee, signing a three year deal at Portman Road. JET held down a regular first team place during his first season at Portman Road, netting seven goals in 44 games in all competitions but has found it hard to find consistancy this term and will now look for a new challenge.
