Former Town skipper Jason De Vos says that ex team-mate Jaime Peters did not reach his potential at Portman Road after falling in with the wrong crowd.

Town signed Canadian Peters in 2005, fighting off competition from Premier League giants Manchester United and Chelsea with the player tipped for big things by many in the game. However despite being at Portman Road for seven years, the player never really reached the heights that many believed were possible, and had numerous loan spells before being released by Town in the Summer of 2012.

Since then Peters has been on trial at a number of lower league clubs and this week is expected to start a trial back in his native Canada with Vancover Whitecaps, as he looks to get his career back on track and find himself a new club in order to push for inclusion in the Canadian national side once again.;

Jason De Vos played alongside Peters at Portman Road, and tweeted his views on where it went wrong for the midfielder: "Jaime Peters - loads of talent, athleticism. Struggled for consistency at Ipswich, fell in with the wrong crowd, poor influence on him.

"Peters is young enough to turn his career around if - and that's a big if - his attitude is 100% professional. Jaime had all the ability to succeed at Ipswich, but he lacked consistency. Great one game, non-existent the next."
