Town boss Mick McCarthy says he is happy with the way the club are progressing since he was appointed manager on 1st November.

Town beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 last night to finally move out of the Championship relegation zone and recoed McCarthy's third winner as Town boss, and says that he can see gradual signs of improvement in his side.

After 19 games Town now sit two points above the relegation zone, level on points with 20th place Barnsley, but with a far inferior goal difference and four points above bottom club Peterborough United. 

Speaking to the Official Club Website this morning, former Republic of Ireland boss McCarthy said: “We are gradually improving I feel, which is of course pleasing to see.

"Although we only drew with Peterborough on Saturday, I thought we were a lot better and the result and performance last night was obviously a big improvement too.

“It was a fantastic result and it’s great to be out of the bottom three but, listen, we can’t get complacent as we could be back in there with a defeat on Saturday.

“I’ve told the lads not to take their foot off the gas and if they work as hard as they did last night, then we’ll win more games then we’ll lose.”
