New Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has expressed his delight at joining what he regards as a 'fantastic club'.

The 53 year old has signed a 3 year deal with the club and will be joined by his former assistant at Wolverhampton Wanderers, Terry Connor. It's understood that despite rumours suggesting otherwise, that former blue Matt Holland will not become part of his coaching team at the club.

Speaking via the Official Club Website, McCarthy said: “I’m obviously delighted to have been given the job as Ipswich Town manager and I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead.

"It’s a fantastic football club, with a proud tradition and history and a terrific fanbase. While the long term ambition is to take the Club back into the Premier League, it’s clear that the first priority is to get some confidence back into the team and start climbing the table.”
