Town midfielder Riche Wellens, on loan from Leicester City, has hit out at Town's permanent players, saying that only the loanees at Portman Road seem to care.

The 32 year old former Manchester United trainee says that whoever the new boss at the club is going to be, he is going to have a touigh job on his hands and if Town are to get out of their current predicament, changes are going to have to happen sooner rather than later.

“The new manager needs to come in and put a rocket up a few backsides. There is not enough people here, for me, that care about losing a game of football, their careers and care about football in general." he said on Sunday..

"One of the coaches said the manager (Jewell) got a bit of stick for bringing in so many loan players. But it is actually loan players who care – which is a sad indictment of the players that are already here, if that is the case.”

The former Blackpool, Oldham Athletic and Doncaster Rovers man says he could have just said nothing, but he felt too strongly to simply let it pass him by: “It would be the easier thing for me to just let the games pass me by and then go back.

"But I am a professional and I care about my football. I have come here, played four games and lost four – and that hurts me. I’ll go home, not speak to the wife – it ruins my weekend. That is the way every footballer should be, but I don’t see that.”
