I am not usually a fan of loan deals, I mean if we had signed Loic Remy instead of loaning him we would not be in the situation of still chasing a striker now, however needs must and Arsenal’s Joel Campbell could fit the bill for a season very nicely.
The striker is expected to go out on loan again this season with Galatasaray being quoted a fee of 800,000 to take the striker on loan for next season.
Campbell, who was certainly one of the stars of Costa Rica’s wonderful world cup, looks to have pace to burn and knows where the back of the net is.
This could ease an immediate problem for Newcastle and give us a recognised goal scorer, while requirement this season has been good (and about bloody time) we are still in desperate need of a striker.
This could suit all parties, Campbell will get Premier league experience, Newcastle will get a striker, and Ashley will get to keep the moths circulating his wallet.
While I would much prefer a permanent signing, in the absence of that, this could prove a master stroke.
