Against all odds, and I must admit against my scepticism, Newcastle are in talks to bring former loan player Loic Remy back to Newcastle.
Despite, never really seeming keen to be here in the first place, Newcastle are reportedly in serious talks with the players agent Willie McKay, to bring the player to Tyneside on a permanent basis.
To be honest the most difficult bit of the report to believe, is that Mike Ashley, he of short arms and very deep pockets, wants the player and is willing to fork out a sizeable transfer fee, and large wages to secure his services.
If this turns out to be true, it will mark a change of approach, from the legendary tight wad, and perhaps one could hope that it may just mark a change of policy.
I would welcome Remy back with open arms, but time will tell if there is more to this than just talk.
