Move the bloody line.

If you’re a Newcastle fan, you have become very used over the last few years to a failure to get players ‘over the line’.

The ‘line’ which in reality appears to have the defensive requirements of the Berlin Wall, should be perhaps re-named as the ‘wall’.

Time after time, we are told a players wage demands are too high, a club wants too much money for him, he was wearing a loud shirt in a built up area, that sort of thing.

Now one of the very few things I actually like about the current regime, is not snapping up over paid, under worked players, but I do have to wonder if our ‘line’ is in fact realistic.

With the fortunes coming in from Television, and the Premier league, players want their cut, now I don’t even pretend to have any clue what our ‘line’ actually is.

But when player after player, agents, clubs in fact everyone with a pulse inside of football, is saying our offers are too low, you are forced to conclude, that whatever the arbitrary line is, it is simply set to low.

I am not for a moment suggesting, that we suddenly just start throwing any amount of money at them, I am however suggesting that it is well past time, we re-consider what we are willing to pay.

This summer, possibly more than any other for a number of years we will need massive re-strengthening to move forward, I would argue that we need a fair few reinforcements just to stand still.

If you look at the close of last season, we will be relegation fodder without investment.

I for one, don’t want to hear, come the end of the transfer window, well we just failed to get these 347 players over the line.

Was a good film years ago with Marty Feldman ... you'll not get a look at 'The Line' because Charnley and Ashley carry it around with them in a similar way.

By the way your expectations are too high ... Charnley said 2 players per season and we have them signed already ... our transfers are finished till 2015

I heard Newcastle were offered two promising strikers
from north shields, but Ashley wouldn't pay there bus fare to the ground.(joke I think)
The man is a joke and he is running the club like a joke. When players and agents are ruling out the club because of lack of ambition and constantly under of valuing players it is time to take stock. These things can hurt the clubs reputation and even current
players are realising that there will be no progressing at the club.
Ashley claims to be a good business man but even I can see that more investment into better players will see us climb higher in the table and bring in more money and at the same time if we achieve European level we will be able to attract better players to guarantee prolonged financial benefits. So come on Mr Ashley please find a football person to run the club the right way, you've tried
but now is the time to change. Already its looking like a bleak
transfer window. You shouldn't announce who your selling before you get the replacements or we'll end up short again.
