Newcastle United host Everton this evening on the back of three wins and three defeats from their last six games. Everton travel on the back of four wins and two defeats from their last six.
Alan Pardew once again hands the reigns over to John Carver, who will be without Loic Remy (calf) and Mathieu Debuchy (groin). Sammy Ameobi (ankle) is also unavailable, having recovered from a knee injury to swiftly pick up an ankle problem, but Davide Santon (illness) may make the squad though he is unlikely to play 90 minutes.
For Everton Phil Jagielka (hamstring) is fit and could feature but they are without Steven Pienaar (knee), Kone (knee), Gibson (knee), Traore (hamstring) and Oviedo (broken leg).
Pardew said ahead of the game;
"Teams normally hit 40 points and switch off but we haven't done that," he said. "We want to do our best for the best fans in the country."
Fact: Newcastle have 9 points from their last 4 Premier League games.
Fact: Only Chelsea (23) and Manchester City (27) have conceded fewer league goals than Everton (30) this season.
Fact: Lukaku has scored 3 goals in 3 League appearances against Newcastle.
I cant see De jong lasting much longer, he can't compete physically with Distin and Stones who have struggled when players run at them, it'd be good to see what ben arfa can do against them but no doubt it'll be shola who comes on
Annie, to be honest the 2 teams were very evenly matched the only difference was everton took their chances and we didn't.
HBA had a really good game when he came on and showed glimpses of his old self, there was one point he managed to get into the box when it looked impossible put a perfect ball across the box and anita put it wide when it would have been easier to score, i thought to myself there's no wonder he doesn't pass that often when his team mates mess it up so badly.
De jong was poor again he'll no doubt be involved in the last few matches to prove himself but unless we can get him for about 2-3 million then he's not shown anything to justify spending more
