The first 20 minutes between Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur offered several chances for either side with Krul making a great save in the first few minutes only for Luuk de Jong to offer a goal on a plate for Papiss Cisse who missed the opportunity.

Mike Williamson defended well in the 24th minute to prevent Aaron Lennon from putting the ball into the back of the net.

Again Papiss Cisse should have done better in the 25th minute when the ball was played to him by Sammy Ameobi but he was unable to control it enough to put it over the keeper and into the net instead it went wide.

Spurs hit the post in the 29th minute with a shot from Aaron Lennon which was deflected.

Spurs led at half time.

Hatem ben Arfa replaced de Jong and Marveaux replaced Sammy Ameobi. In the 72nd minute Gouffran had a great shot which was saved by Lloris followed by an even better save to put the ball over the bar after a cross from ben arfa was headed by Debuchy.

Cisse piled the pressure on in the 89th with Lloris having to make yet another good save to stop Newcastle from scoring.

Despite chance after chance after chance for Newcastle – Adebayor made it 3-0 to Spurs in the 82nd minute of the game before Nacer Chadli made it 4-0 in the 88th.

Probably just as well Newcastle have a break at the weekend because the fans cannot take much more of this.

Picture editor appears to have failed me. It was as mortified by Newcastle's defeat as the rest of us and won't save any more for me to complete the article.

*apologies* can't imagine you wanted to be reminded of every goal anyway(Sm16)
