News from Nairobi is that a 23 year old Manchester United fan committed suicide after the club's 1-0 defeat against Newcastle United yesterday lunchtime. John Jimmy Macharia is reported to have jumped from the 7th floor of a building in response to the defeat at Old Trafford, David Moyes' side's second in consecutive games.

Police Chief Benson Kibue said;

"All witness accounts suggest he committed suicide because the team lost but officers are still talking to those who were with him as part of the investigations into the incident.

It is not the first time we are losing a young man because of the football in England, which is far away from us. They need to know that is just a game."

This is very sad and there must have been some underlying problems.

My condolences to his family.

Watching the news footage there were a lot of witnesses to the which must have been horrible for them all.
