Alan Pardew told Sky Sports in his pre-match interview that Arsenal's bid for Cabaye earlier today was not acceptable. On the back of the bid Cabaye has been dropped from tonight's game with Pardew who was visibly angry by the move ahead of his team's first game of the season, stating he had to pick a team which could get results. Cabaye's absence has led to speculation that Arsenal have perhaps but in an improved bid for the player which hasn't been released to the media yet.

Pardew told Sky Sports;

"Well to be honest we want to focus on what's important for Newcastle tonight, our fans, to get a result here.

I can confirm we've had a bid for Yohan Cabaye we don't think is acceptable. I have to pick a team for tonight's game.

I've picked a team which I think can get a result here. The rights and wrongs of that bid other people can make their own opinion I can tell you what I think of the bid anyway.."
