Mick Harford Linked To NUFC Role - But To What Purpose?

Sky Sports are reporting that Newcastle United are in talks to bring Mick Harford to the club as an assistant to Director of Football Joe Kinnear. Harford who gave an extensive interview to the Journal four weeks ago on Kinnear’s appointment at the club, was reportedly sacked from his assistant manager post at MK Dons in early June of this year after just 12 months in the job, before then being employed as a first team coach at Millwall at the end of June.

Whilst his departure from MK Dons appears to be a mystery with no confirmation as to why he left, he would be leaving Millwall after less than 30 days in the job.

When Joe Kinnear was appointed at Newcastle desperate attempts were made to ensure that the fans knew Pardew was still the manager, but that with Kinnear being so good at what he does that the club just couldn’t do without him. His interviews were full of self-praise and promotion, which leads to the question, why would he need as assistant, when we have failed to secure a single signing since his arrival.

If Harford, who was Kinnear’s assistant manager when he managed Nottingham Forest, does join the club it will surely lead to further speculation that Kinnear is being lined up as the next manager with backroom staff already in place.

if this is true then i think it shows that Joke isn't up to the magnitude of the role he has took on and already needs help.

Mick the mackem who has insulted and laughed at the club on many an occasion, who,s roots are firmly lodged in the dark place.

I really don,t know whats going on at the club,it seems like the fat chap in charge is punishing the fans that stay with the club and make the club what it is for no apparent reason.

Harford is a failed coach and a non motivator at lower league level and can only drag the club down.

At this rate even Wonga will not want to be associated with us!

i honestly dont know what to say about this, is it designed to force pardew out, is joke already struggling with all of his duties and needs help, are relations between the dof and coaching team strained and harford has been brought in to be a buffer, Harford was dof at luton he may share this role with joke, harford oversees the playing side of things and joke concentrates on transfers

he's apparently going to be in charge of scouting in Britain, so all of our decent players will be foreign from now on
