Would Mike Ashley Take £15M for Cisse If Anzhi Offered It?

Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse has rejected the idea that he is angling for a move away from the club after he was linked with Anzhi Makhachkala, who he scored against in the 94th minute of the second leg in the Europa League back in March to knock the Russian side out of the competition.

Yesterday Guido Nickolay who the press claimed to be Cisse’s agent was alleged to have said the following;

 “Papiss really is interested in several Russian clubs, but the call exactly what the team hoped to buy my client, I would not want to, because it will not be very correct on my part.”

However, The Chronicle is reporting today that Nickolay himself has confirmed that he hasn’t worked for Cisse for the past year and if anything, the Senegal International would be more interested in signing and extension to his contract rather than leave the club.

That said Mike Ashley is unlikely to reward him with a new contract when he scored just 13 goals in 47 games last season. At this stage there appears to be little foundation to the Anzhi rumour, but with so much money in their club anything could be possible and with Mike Ashley taking a business minded approach, a £15M fee may prove too easy to accept.

We would be screwed (just the fact we wouldn't have a striker - not necessarily because its cisse) but it would not surprise me if they took the cash
