Suarez Hands Advantage To Newcastle: Team Need To Take It

Newcastle United will go head to head with Liverpool on Saturday evening with the advantage after Liverpool's striker Luis Suarez was hit with an 10 match ban by the FA for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic during last Sunday's game. Liverpool, who claim to be disappointed by the lengthy ban are expected to appeal it but the appeal will make no difference to Saturday's game as the standard 3 match ban kicks in immediately with the additional 7 being contested.

The FA released the following statement;

"A three-person independent regulatory commission today upheld the FA's claim that a suspension of three matches was clearly insufficient and the player will serve a further seven first-team matches in addition to the standard three.

The suspension begins with immediate effect."

On paper the advantage is for Newcastle's taking but the side need to put this into practice after woeful 2nd half performances in recent weeks.

Suarez has scored 23 this season for the club and assisted in 5 more in the Premier League alone (33 games).
