By Tyne-Talk
March 16 2013

Newcastle United travel to Wigan Athletic tomorrow afternoon after a last minute win in their Europa League game midweek against Anzhi. They go into the game on the back of four wins, one defeat and one draw from their last six games in all competitions, whilst Wigan host on the back of three wins, two defeats and a draw from their last six.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is without Fabricio Coloccini (back) whilst Tim Krul (ankle) and Steve Harper (knee) are also both unavailable. Hatem Ben Arfa could be out for the rest of the season as Newcastle assess his hamstring problem and decide whether or not to treat it or send him for surgery. Yoan Gouffran and Mathieu Debuchy who were both unavailable in midweek return.

Yohan Cabaye (groin) faces a late fitness test, but Shola Ameobi (ankle) is fit again, as Newcastle look to break into the top 10.

Wigan go into the game having scored three goals in three minutes against Everton in last week’s FA Cup game, their confidence will be high, but they are 6 points away from relegation safety, currently sitting in 18th in the League.

They also have the worst home record in England’s top 5 divisions, having taken just 2 wins and 10 points from 14 games. They haven’t won at the DW Stadium since November 2012.

They will be without Ryo Miyaichi (ankle ligaments) after he was stretchered off last weekend. Callum McManaman (ankle) is also unavailable as are Albert Crusa (knee) and Ivan Ramis (knee).

Fact: Newcastle have won just one away game in the League this season.

Fact: Wigan have won 5/6 home games against Newcastle. Their only defeat was in 2011.

Fact: Newcastle have kept just one clean sheet in their last 11 League games.

In theory this should be an easy win.

In reality this is going to be hard.

surely the club are going to put in a complaint about the referee and linesmen, they somehow missed the career threatning tackle, all the following tackles, a tackle from behind on cisse which if the guy got the ball should have been a corner which he didn't give which shows that the ref didn't think he touched the ball so it should have been a penalty!

It was a shambles of the highest order from the referee. How he missed that tackle beggers belief how he gave their second goal is a farce and to lose that game is rediculous. We need to regroup ready for the next challenges that lie ahead. City and Benfica away then three home games lets hope for a place in the semis and 6 points from our league games. Games like yesterday's are so frustrating!
