Pardew Will Play Simpson Whilst He Is Still Being Paid

Newcastle United defender Danny Simpson, will feature in the final part of the season, says manager Alan Pardew. He has been nursing a broken toe for the last seven weeks but made the bench in midweek against FC Metalist. Simpson has been on his way out of Newcastle since contract talks broke down a year or so ago, with the 26 year old refusing a new deal after failing to agree personal terms.

He was due to sign for Wigan in the January transfer window with the club offering £850,000, but the deal broke down at the last minute after Newcastle asked for £1million. He is now expected to go there on a free transfer in the summer.

Pardew told The Gazette;

"Danny’s available. I have to say that Danny wants to show people he’s a Premier League player.

So Danny’s in the frame, yes – he will have a role to play. He’s a paid player at this football club – he’s a professional player. I expect him, when I call upon him, to do his absolute best for me.

I don’t doubt that he will.”

Simpson has seen his media profile increase over the last six months of so, with his relationship to Tulisa Constostavlos hitting the headlines, before getting knocked out cold outside a takeaway just three weeks ago after picking a fight whilst drunk.

With Simpson being replaced by Mathieu Debuchy, it is unlikely that he will regain his first team place on a regular basis, however we would expect to see him play some part in the Europa League campaign.

I've read other articles saying Wigan struggled to come up with 500k to pay for Simpson!

Debuchys ineligible for the uefa cup so you'd assume Simpson would be playing in these games.

Yes that's a good point I guess he would be on the bench for Premiership games.

the only time Simpson will play will be in Europe
I cant even see Simpson making the bench in league matches as we have mbiwa and perch on the bench who can play at rb and.having a third would mean sacrificing a player foe another position
