Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has called Loic Remy's move to Queens Park Rangers as "a little strange" as he confirmed the club put a fantastic offer on the table for the former Marseille striker, only to be rejected, with the player preferring bottom of the league Rangers. Remy is thought to have accepted in excess of £70,000 a week in an £8million move, a fee previously agreed between Newcastle and Marseille. Whilst QPR have set a club record with the signing, there are many reports circulating which suggest that the 26 year old has a release clause like Demba Ba had at West Ham, whereby should the club be relegated he can walk away for free. Chances are Newcastle could get a second chance with Remy if they stay up and QPR are relegated at the end of the season.

Pardew said earlier today;

"It was a little strange as we had obviously put a lot of work in and made the club an offer that was accepted, a good offer.

We made a fantastic offer to the player and then he didn’t arrive. This club is on a financial footing that is strong, but we’re still not going to pay silly money.

We’re going to pay what is correct and that is what we offered.

We made a fantastic offer, a fantastic Premiership offer to that player – trust me.

I don’t really want to criticise the player. The player makes the decision and he stands by it. I don’t really have anything else to say on it.”

Former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer said earlier today;

"I am surprised to see Remy go to QPR instead of Newcastle.

I would have a good guess financial things had a part to play. While I hope QPR get out of it, I find it hard to say he chose them over Newcastle."

Have to remember its the players that pull in the fans, and ultimately are why the premier league is worth so much money. Good luck to them, they have a short career, get admired by billions, and are worth every penny.
Ask yourself this, if I was offered double my salary to do the same job, would I take it?

Especially with the option to leave if relegated.

Good for Newcastle (the club I support) for refusing to offer that kind of stupid money. I am not blaming the player for accepting it, but just praising Newcastle for not offering it.
