Newcastle host Club Brugge this evening at St James Park in their Europa League game. The Premier League side go into the game on the back of a 1-1 draw in the Wear-Tyne derby at the weekend, whilst Brugge have only lost twice this season and are not to be underestimated.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has confirmed that captain Fabricio Coloccini will be rested this evening, whilst Rob Elliot (groin), Dan Gosling (ankle), Ryan Taylor (knee) and Haris Vuckic (knee) are all unavailable.

Cheik Tiote, who was red carded on Sunday will start, ahead of a 3 game domestic ban, as will Sammy Ameobi and Shane Ferguson. It is unlikely that Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse will double up at all this evening.

Club Brugge have several injuries to contend with. Their goal keeper Bojan Jorgacevic (abdomen), Ryan Donk (groin), Jim Larsen (groin), Fredrik Stenman (Achilles), Niki Zimling (calf), Thomas Meunier (ankle) and Mohammed Tchite (dislocated finger) are all unavailable.

Manager Alan Pardew told nufc.co.uk, ahead of the game;

“We have to respect that Brugge are top of their league. We did that with Bordeaux and put a team out that was very strong, I thought. The same will go against Brugge. We’ve approached this competition from the start with energy and a smile. We want to enjoy it and so far we have.”

On Ferguson and Sammy Ameobi he added;

"They are two players, I think, who can affect the first-team at this football club and take us forward as a club. It is a big game for them and they are training very, very well. We hope to see some fine performances from those two in particular on Thursday."

Club Brugge manager George Leekens also took a realistic approach to the game;

“We know that from the first minute to the last, we will have to be at our best and if you know football, that’s the history of English football. They have a great team, a great stadium and we are coming here and try and enjoy it because football is about the game.  It’s nice to see this club growing – but we are not coming here for a holiday, we are coming here to play football.”

It depends on the line up for me it is possibly a 3-1 win. Club Bruge suffered a bad defeat last weekend and the coach blasted them for it so they should be up for it, whether the occasion gets to them or not is a different matter.

Obertan has improved a lot since last season and I think his crossing is better Cabaye's.

whats happened to amalfitano & Marveux, they aren't down as being injured and couldn't even make the bench last night!
