Nightmare Start To Gosling's Season Again As Injury Strikes

Newcastle United midfielder Dan Gosling has picked up yet another injury in his short career. The former Everton player, arrived on Tyneside in 2010 on a four year contract, whilst recovering from a ruptured cruciate knee ligament. The 22 year old made his club debut in January 2011 but a re-occurrence of his knee injury saw him miss the rest of the season. He returned last season and made 16 appearances for the club across all competitions.

Last night during Newcastle’s preseason friendly against Olympiakos, Gosling was taken off in the 32nd minute with a hip problem.

Manager Alan Pardew said after the game;

“It was a shame for Dan. He got a little twist in his hip.

He thought he could play his way through it, but he couldn’t. We’ll have to wait and see.”

He will be seen and assessed by club medics today to determine the extent of the injury.

It seems like the lad is going to have no luck with the club, when he arrived I thought he was going to be a great signing but for whatever reason it hasn't worked out

Can't say I'm all that worried about this one as when he did play last season he was awful ! Maybe with a run of games he might improve but then again it's been so long since he last played regular football it's a possibility he may never reach the levels he once did

I was very excited by his signing but it just hasn't worked out so far, pretty much down to injuries. I still think he can make a decent player though, fairly versatile and all.

He set up the first two goals against Hartlepool, so it must have been just a slight injury.

Good that he is back, and should hopefully add some depth to the team
