Best Joins Keans Team At Rovers

Newcastle United striker Leon Best has signed a 4 year contract with Blackburn Rovers for a £3million + fee. The 25 year old who has slipped down the pecking order at Newcastle since the arrival of Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse, will get regular first team action with the Championship side providing he can remain free from injury.

The Blackburn Rovers official website released the following statement this evening;

"Blackburn Rovers have this evening completed the signing of Leon Best from Newcastle United.

The 25-year-old striker makes the move from the North East to the North West for a fee of more than £3m, signing a four-year deal."

Pretty good business if you ask me. £1m in, a few years of solid (if not outstanding) service, in excess of £3m out.

To make a profit for a third choice striker isn't bad.

As for Leon himself, I like him but he isn't likely to snatch a spot in our first team. Plus Blackburn are somewhat close to my heart - I wish them both all the best (no pun intended).

Everyone wins here. We get a decent fee, Blackburn get a decent striker, Leon gets to play some football. Good luck to him, always liked him.

great deal for the club, i think this deal epitomises the clubs transfer policy that many people have criticised them for, we bought a decent striker cheap and have sold him on for a profit that can be used to strengthen the first team! When MA and DL came out and said they were going to do this everyone assumed it would be the stars who were sold on!

I can see the likes of Obertan being another one who will be used in this way!

Best scored some good goals when we were desperately in need (after Carroll left and during Ramadan). He wasn't going to get starts over the Senegalese, so its a great move for all parties.
