Ranger Joins Sheffield Wednesday On Loan

Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger has joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan until the end of the season, a move which could signal the end of his career on Tyneside. The 20 year old, who has repeatedly been involved with the police and/or FA over the last 18 months due to his inappropriate behaviour, only came back from injury earlier this week.

Ranger was loaned out to Barnsley earlier this season, but his time there was cut short due to a foot injury. He came back to Newcastle to be rehabilitated and made an appearance in the reserves on Monday night.

That night he was arrested and taken before a court for breaching bail conditions relating to a pending Crown Court trial for assault. Then, on Wednesday he appeared on trial for being drunk and disorderly last October, he pleaded guilty on the day and was sentenced to a 6 month conditional discharge + costs.

The Football League deadline for loans closed yesterday with this move secured just in time.
