Ba, Krul & Tiote Linked With Blues

By Tyne-Talk

Newcastle United striker Demba Ba is the most recent Toon player to be linked with a move to Chelsea this summer. Also this week both Tim Krul and Cheik Tiote have been linked to the London side at a price of £30M.

Ba, who has a release clause in his contract is expected to be linked to several clubs before the transfer window opens, but is considered by Chelsea as an ideal replacement for Torres. Unless Newcastle can pin him down on a new contract they could be waving goodbye to their top goal scorer.

We seem to be a selling club, but with that we seem to have the best scouts in the premiership for unearthing talent for a reasonable price.
BA will probably leave, doubt Krul will want to leave as he has first team football here, and Tiote will go where the money is.
As long as they get replaced with better players (which is what we have been doing as of late) I.E someone leave and a better player takes his place, then let them leave.

Doubt Krul will move though because he loves it here and he loves us.

This idea of "we can always just replace them with better" will come back to haunt us if it's really what our front office is doing. Carr will be the first to tell you he's not a seer. We sell Tiote, Ba and Krul and get in replacements like Gosling, Xisco and Eliott and we'll be courting relegation. You can only roll the dice so many times before coming up snakeyes.

I disagree we are a selling club in the respect that most think. If we were, Colo would have been cashed in on.

Its paper talk that our players are up for sale. There has been three windows now when Tiote was definitely leaving. People just cant use the Carroll transfer as a yard stick to who stays or goes.

I know people will point at the players who were sold during and after the relegation season. Mistakes were made there but, rightly or wrongly, I think Ashley was trying to balance the books a bit.

Jose was being a @#$%&, Nolan and Barton have been proved right to have been moved on. Its like Arsenal, only Fabregas and Nasri were not wanted to be sold by Wenger. Just about every other player was moved on at probably the best time. Now because those two went there is a story about RVP going everyday.

If someone wants to come in and pay 30 mill for Tiote then let them. He can be replaced just like most of the players we have. Feel differently about Krul though. You can just see him getting better and better. His performances this season make him priceless at the moment.

The story stated that Chelsea were looking at a 20 mill double swoop. Absolutely no chance. That wouldnt get one of them, never mind two.

Its paper bullshit, remember all the same @#$%& we had in January and in the summer. Nothing to see here, move along.

The difference is Llambias has actually come out and said we'll have some leaving though? Our whole squad is available for the right price.

Here is where Llambias said that we'll have one or two names leaving.

I may be being optimistic and hoping that it's Smith and Xisco he's talking about, but he names Tiote as an "example" of someone who may be leaving.

But I suppose selling is part of football. Put it this way, if we got 30 mill for Tiote but brought in a further 3-4 players than we would have done. Is that not a good deal. Tiote is great, and I love his attitude, but he is not irreplacable. He has faults like any other player.

I know people will say we should be able to keep him and still sign those 3-4 players anyway. Maybe he is right.

However, money is not everything. I wouldnt be happy if Tiote was sold but we just promoted Abeid. With the dead wood that is being cut away in the summer, he would need to be replaced.

Tunyc is right, you cant keep on doing it. But if we replaced a player with a younger, better player and banked a load of cash for strengthening elsewhere, then its a bit of a no brainer. Ive mentioned him before but Badu for Udinese for instance. 5 years younger and potentially better.

In fairness, both Pardew and Llambias said similar things. But damned if you do, damned if you dont. They said Carroll wasnt for sale, not even thinking that a bid like that would come in. Now they are saying that players move at every club. But if you want ours you will have to pay top dollar.

Smith's off the books after this season either way.

Nobody will buy Xisco. Nobody. He hasn't even succeeded in the Liga Segunda.

But hey, evey teams has its comings and goings. That's true. I just hope we can emulate clubs like ManUSA-keep the good ones, sell the lesser lights.

If we sell Tiote an bring in 4 Alan Smiths/Goslings then no, it's not good business. Kinda like Arsenal with Nasri, Fabregas and possibly RVP.

i think the last transfer window has shown we aren't a selling club!

yes we will sell if an unbelievable offer comes in for a player, what star player have we sold who has gone on to be even better! Carroll was always going to be found out in this league once teams learnt how to defend against him, barton is likely to be playing in the championship next season and Nolan has a chance of coming back up but there's as much chane at the minute that he'll stay down there!

Its paper bullsh1t, they apparently are going to pay 30m for the 2 of them when in january the club came out and said it would take about that just for them to listen to offers for Tiote! krul is probably the hottest young goalkeeper in the league at the minute so we are hardly going to sell him for less than 20million, so i dont know where they got the 30million price!

They can have Ba as long as we get the transfer fee, Torres and a few of their young lads as part of the deal!

I pretty much agree with you, mental. I turned an important corner in my relationship with this owner when we bought Cisse. It was, in my opinion, a sincere statement. The comments Llambias made recently about players going and being "regenerated back into the squad" has gotten many speculating again. I admit I'm a type who tends to do that.

I'd like to see Ba re-signed on another deal without a clause. If he does go, we need another forward. As for Torres: oh hell no! He's not the same player but would want the same wage. If we get truly stupid money for our players, I'll take Edinson Cavani or if he's too much Roberto Soldado, thank you very much!

Ba is stalling on a deal = been offered a 4 year contract on more than his current £35k a week plus £5m spread over the 4 years apparently.

The 5M is a bonus? That would make up for the fee he supposedly didn't get when he signed (his agent too, I'm guessing). So the key is: how much more than 35K is he being offered?

Apparently his £7m clause means £2.5M of that payment goes direct to him :/

Every player has a price, and if Chelsea come in with a stupid offer for our players then they will be sold, but then remember the fans that kicked off when we took that amount for Carroll, saying that the club was a selling one, instead money got invested back in the club and we are by far a better team.

I think this season puts us in a far better position, as you would imagin some players will look at the league table and think a couple more quality players then we could push up. Plus the club is in a far better position than others with the way it is financially ran, where we don't need to sell.

So if somebody moves on it will be two reasons, the player don't want to stay and will be a tw@t about it, and if that is the case then s@d him let him go. The other reason is that the club will get a stupid offer for somebody and at the end of the day every club will sell bar a couple like City and Chelsea
