Gary Speed Found Dead Aged 42

Former Newcastle United player Gary Speed has been found dead at his house at the age of 42. The sad news was confirmed by the Welsh FA and Cheshire Police. Police have confirmed that the Wales Manager was found by Police in his home and that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. Tragicallly reports suggest he had hanged himself.
Speed joined Newcastle in 1998 for £5.5million and was a big player for the club until he left for Bolton Wanderers in 2004. He played for Sheffield United from 2008 and saw out his playing career. He retired aged 41.
Speed went on to manage Sheffield United before being appointed as Wales Manager on 8th February 2011 and was just starting to prove his managerial skills, taking two wins from Wales' last two games against Switzerland and Bulgaria.
Cheshire Police have released the following statement confirming the sad news;
"At 7.08am this morning, Sunday 27 November, police were informed of an incident at Aldford Road, Huntington.
Officers went to the scene where a 42-year-old man was found dead. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and next of kind have been informed."

He always came across as very friendly and welcoming when interviewed etc.
Loved you at the toon and I'm sorry you're gone.
Why in the world would you kill yourself at the age of 42?
Some reports are saying he is simply dead, others saying he was found hanged.
Why don't they just tell us straight?

He was a favourite of mine when he was at Newcastle.
News at 10 on the BBC confirms he was found hanged.
What a tragedy.
Total professional and Im pleased I am going to the match on Saturday to give him the silence/applause the man deserves.
He came across as such a nice bloke with his feet on the ground. As soon as he arrived a chose him for my first goal scorer before the home games. More times than not he would come up trumps.
My thoughts are with his family. RIP.
A legend of football, gone so young, was definitly a favourite of mine when he was at the toon. I really don't understand it and couldn't beleive it today when I found out.
Good thing is i have viewed sites from many teams and no vile s-hit spouted.He was liked across the board and it really felt like football came together in shock and forgot all the bullshitte.

Seeing how upset Shay Given was during the match was moving he obvioulsy was very close to a lot of people throughout football!
He was one of my favourite NUFC players and i've continued to follow his career since he left us, this has to be one of the greatest losses to british football in my lifetime!
There has been a lot said about depression in footballers in the last couple of weeks, if it was depression that caused this then it just shows how bad the problem is and hopefully clubs can start to try and help the players more!
