Harper Back In Toon But Looking To Leave So Soon

Newcastle United goal-keeper Steve Harper is already looking ahead at another loan deal, despite only returning from Brighton and Hove earlier this week.  The 36 year old, who has picked up a knee injury, was on a 1 month deal under Gus Poyet’s management, but the clubs failed to agree terms which could have extended his contract until January.

Harper, however, is keen to keep playing first team football and would happily consider any load deal which may come up in the next two days.

He said;

"I needed to go out and play some games and get myself up to speed, in case anything happens to Tim (Krul). I know the loan deadline's Thursday, so if the right opportunity came up somewhere, I might do another month before Christmas, but the priority now is to get the jab in my knee and rest it for a couple of days."
