Sammy Ameobi Signs New 3.5 Year Deal & Talks Of Progession

Newcastle United's Sammy Ameobi has signed a new three and half year deal to keep him at the club until 2015. The 19 year old who has made 7 first team appearances this season and recently made his England Under 21 debut, has said that progression is his ambition at the club over the next three years.

When asked of his ambitions he told NUFC.co.uk

"Progression. That's the main thing for me. Hopefully I'll come off the bench more and more times and maybe get into the first team as a regular. I'd say thats my aim - over the next three and half years, to develop as a first team regular at Newcastle United."

He also told The Chronicle;

"As a young player all you want to do is have as many opportunities as you can for the first team, and I am grateful to the manager for giving me these chances.

I am enjoying every minute of it and I will continue to do that. It gives you an incredible buzz to hear your name chanted.

I have supported the club since I was a boy and when Shola came into the first team, so playing for Newcastle is a dream come true."

The extended deal is another good move by Manager Alan Pardew who has rewarded several players with lengthy contracts over the last 12 months.

Ameobi will get his chances this year, but they will be spread out to when Obertan/Marveaux/Jonas have a knock or need a rest. He's put in good shifts every time I've seen him play, and I think he's got tons of potential (the most overpriced commodity in sports). Both he and his brother received a great work ethic from their parents, so I think he'll capitalize as long as he doesn't have the injury trouble Shola did.

Fully agree with Andrew, that young local talent come through and good enough, the lad has done well and really pleased that he has extended his contract

Ranger could take a leaf out of his book.

As Waffles said, he sounds as though he has had a great grounding.

With Obertan and Marvaux out he may get his chance against City. He could give Clichy a run for his money.

This came out earlier this year about the two brothers. Amazing read.
