Cabaye Fears Ligament Damage & Undergoes Scan

Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye has confirmed he is concerned about the ankle injury which forced him off the pitch in the 48th minute of France's game against Albania last night. Cabaye, who is yet to be officially ruled out of Tuesday's International game against Bosnia Herzegovina was interviewed for the French Football Federation's website and also spoke to L'Equipe.

He said

"My left ankle got stamped on. I preferred to be substituted and not take any risk.  It was a big pain, and I fear ligaments could have been damaged.

I hope I will be fit for Tuesday and that this game does not pass me by.

I will have tests, I don't know whether it is a sprain or a bad bruise but it was very painful and I couldn't carry on like that."

International manager Laurent Blanc told L'Equipe;

"He took a heavy blow on his ankle. Our Albanian friends shook us up well."

Suggestions are that Cabaye is clear to play tonight for France, so it was just a twist or bruise.
