Newcastle United travel to Craven Cottage tonight for their midweek fixture against Fulham live on Sky Sports 2.  Newcastle have won two drawn two and lost two of their last six games in all competitions, whilst Fulham have won four, drawn one and lost one of their last six.

Alan Pardew will have been disappointed with two consecutive draws from their last two games, but is likely to find it harder to motivate his side tonight after the departure of striker Andy Carroll on the last day of the transfer window.

Leon Best is set to join Shola Ameobi upfront, in what is now to be a regular partnership, whilst Kevin Nolan and Danny Guthrie should both be available, with Nolan looking for his 50^th Premier League goal.

Ryan Taylor (ankle), Dan Gosling (knee), Alan Smith (ankle), Hatem Ben Arfa (broken leg) and Steven Taylor (hamstring) are all unavailable; as is Cheik Tiote who will complete his 3 match ban this evening.

New loan signing Stephen Ireland is also absent with a hamstring problem.

Mark Hughes is expected to name Eider Gudjohnson and Gael Kakuta on the bench after signing the pair on loan, whilst Mark Schwarzer (fatigue) is rested and Dickson Etuhu (hamstring) is a doubt. Briggs (calf) and Zamora (broken leg) are also both absent.

Fact: Mark Hughes is unbeaten in his last six games against Newcastle United.

I'm hoping we can pull off a draw. Fulham look a lot more dangerous with Johnson and Dembele. They tore spurs apart.

we're doing ok without threatening the goal we maybe deserve for our play up to the box. thats loser speak in this league though, fulham will take a chance if we dont. they are much more direct in their build up than i have seen fulham play for a long time. hughes to thankl for that no doubt at all.
so far, guthrie has been poor again. its not his job, covering tiote, but its showing tonight i think. nolan is around, but he wont spend 90 mins helping as he's not suited to that and its a waste of course to have him too deep. perhaps the same line up but with a right winger for best would allow barton and guthrie to combine behind nolan and ranger, but i wouldnt be tempted into a change just yet.

we can win it though, if we carry on trying to attack when we get the ball
