£20M Enquiry For Carroll Rejected But Would We Take £30M?

Newcastle United are said to have rejected a £20million "enquiry" for star striker Andy Carroll, from Tottenham Hotspurs, but a bigger bid could be on the cards. Reports, if true suggest that Harry Redknapp is prepared to push the price to £30million for the 21 year old.

Carroll, who is currently recovering from a torn thigh muscle has already said he wishes to stay on Tyneside, whilst manager Alan Pardew has made it clear his top goalscorer is going no-where. However, with owner Mike Ashley's eye for money making deals, this could be an opportunity too good to turn down and it has been suggested that talks would commence if a £30million offer was placed on the table.

At this stage Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy has been told that Carroll is not for sale.

Harry Redknapp has made it no secret he has had his eye on Carroll for months, with the link to Spurs first picking up pace back in November. Previous newspaper reports at the time suggested that the deal could be a cash + players deal with both David Bentley and Robbie Keane both going the other way.

id say this is a load of rubbish because whoever wrote the article couldnt even do enough research to see that carroll is only 21

lol typos aside cant see him leaving he doesnt want to go and the fact ashley gave the go ahead ben arfa almost shows some intent to do something decent and getting rid of carroll would break that his statement that he made a while back said players such as shearer, carrick etc will no longer have to make there name else where which suggests he would keep him

The numbers are complete bunk and are based on Spuds continuing ridiculous valuations of players who can't get onto the field for them. No joke. I'm believing rumors that the actual offer was some combination of Keane, Bentley and Kranjcar (4 total starts this season) and a nominal amount of cash.

its a strikers graveyard, too. he'd have to be very confident of his ability, or daft to choose spurs at this stage of his career

I would say that the wages of those 3 players would offset all the good work we did last season in lowering the wage bill.

So to me, aside from losing Carroll being obviously terrible, the deal would be a bad one.
