Newcastle United defender Jose Enrique has spoken out after helping his team-mates to a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at St James' Park, but he believes they need to be stronger to ensure they stay in the Premier League next season.

Enrique told nufcTV;

"Against this team a draw is good. I know we were at home, but against Chelsea, who needed the points and who came here to win the three points, to get a draw is really, really good.

It was really important for our confidence. We think we can beat any team - and we can lose against anyone too! This league is a little bit crazy this season.

We're in a good position, and the most important thing is to stay in a good position.

Of course, if we can get a better position then that's good, but the most important thing for us is keeping our position in our first season back in the Premier League."

He also spoke to BBC Newcastle. In an interview today he said;

"Everyone was sad because they scored in the last minute of the first half. But in the second-half we had a good reaction and we played well.

They have a better team than us, and better players, so we knew the second half was going to be difficult for us and we'd have to defend more.

We defended well, we knew we'd have to drop off against them and we did that well.

We have to be stronger here, normally when you play away it is more difficult to win but for us it seems to be the reverse.

We have to start today and this draw, and when Liverpool come here next, we have to get something."

If we get our home form sorted then we could get a high finish, normally away from home is where we struggle.

Don't think last season form can be taken into account, different quality we were coming up against, and we were a class above the rest, was still an amazing achievement though to have the record we did.

Come on lads lets go on a run, as the table is looking quite tight
