Barton: I Have Anger Issues - You Don't Say?

Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton has pledged to personally apologise to Blackburns Morten Gamst Pedersen, after admitting to punching him during Wednesday's game and accepting a 3 match ban, imposed by the FA as punishment. Barton told The Daily Mail;

"Everyone knows I have anger issues and on the pitch people are going to test my temperament. I'm not a changed man because it's who I am. It's something inside me, a natural instinct that makes me stand and fight. I just continue to work at it.

I'll always be fighting to curb it and it's a battle for me. I have these anger issues but I know that when it turns to rage, like it did against Blackburn, it is not acceptable.

It was a moment of stupidity from me.

I shouldn't have reacted like that even if it was slightly provoked. I can't condone it and I deserve a ban. I am human but I have made a mistake I regret."

I just want to say. Please no one on this forum raise the, "In the real world...." argument regarding this topic because it annoys me no end.

Must admit I laughed when I saw the replay.

Butch up Viking and take a punch like a man imo.

this seems to be blown alot more out of proportion because its joey barton, if it was any other player it would have been described as "a moment of madness tottaly out of character" i think barton will learn from this but it will also mean more attacks on him to get a reaction. lets hope he keeps the head next time

Yeah, but the spotlight's only on him because of himself. These things happen in many games, but Joey has to know there will be extra eyes on him.

And yeah, if it's going to be a 3-match ban he should have gotten his money's worth and popped him in the jaw...
