England in Tatters in Brisbane

England are facing a very heavy defeat after Australia dominated proceedings in Brisbane for the second succesive day, setting the visitors 561 runs to win the opening test match......

Centuries for Michael Clarke and David Warner, helped the hosts declare on 401-7 as England's bowlers toiled in the heat, having had to bowl on each day of the series so far.

It was a helpless task, thanks to the hopeless effort of the batsmen on Day 2 of this test match, and that continued in the second innings, as England limped to 24-2 at the close on the third day.

It was horrible to watch Jonathan Trott suffer at the hands of Mitchell Johnson for a spell of intense fast short pitched bowling, given that as soon as Trott came to the wicket, 5mph was added to the left armers pace as he released the ball.

Johnson is a man re-invented in this series, and is going to take some stopping. He certainly won't be stopped as Australia will easily wrap up the opening win on Day 4, even with some heroics from England's middle order, but the writing is on the wall.

Australia 295 & 401-7 dec v England 136 & 24-2 - England need another 537 runs to win
