Root in the Runs in Sydney

Joe Root, Alastair Cook, Jonathan Trott, and Kevin Pietersen were all in the runs during Day 3 of the warm up game in Sydney against an Australian Invitational XI, as England's batsmen enjoyed some much needed time out in the middle...

Root scored 75, and he was joined in the half century department by Cook, Trott and Pietersen, who played one of his unusual warm up knocks!

England finshed all out for 418, and reduced the hosts to 153 for 4, who now lead by 39 runs.

Jonny Bairstow also shone with the bat, which will encourage the management behind the scenes, should Matt Prior fail to recover from his calf injury and take his place in the side for the opening test match in Brisbane.
