Root Shows Promise on Final Day

England batsman Joe Root, showed no adverse signs of returning to the middle order, as he struck an unbeaten half century on the final day of the warm up with Australia 'A' in Hobart.....

After both days two and three were lost to rain, more wet weather delayed the start of the final day, and put paid to any chance of a result being maufactured by both captains.

England chose to bat on, with Cook and Carberry both retiring to let the middle order get some time out in the middle.

It didn't quite go to plan though, as only Root got to grips with the changing conditions, as Gary Ballance, Jonathan Trott and Kevin Pietersen all fell cheaply.

With only one more warm up game ahead of the opening test in Brisbane, England will be hoping to get a full game in, and some much needed batting time for the middle order.
