England will look to improve on their defeat in the opening one day International to New Zealand, when the two sides meet again in Napier on Wednesday....

Despite a strong opening 25 overs in Hamilton, England lost too many wickets at the back end of their innings, and ended up being bowled out for 258 inside their 50 overs.

Jonathan Trott, Ian Bell and Joe Root all reached half centuries, but no one could go onto three figures to lead England onto the magic 300 mark to put them in control.

"You always are a little bit rusty when you haven't had a practice match or a training session as a side," admitted England captain Alastair Cook. "But it was more match hardness which we were missing a little bit today. We got ourselves in position to win." Cook concluded.

There was one positive note for England from the game in Hamilton, when fast bowler James Anderson took his 529th international wicket, and passing Sir Ian Botham as England's highest wicket-taker in all forms of the game.
