We are used to Kevin Pietersen getting his face in the news on the eve of a big test series, but now it would seem, a lot of people are tiring of seeing our most talented batsman try and get his own way in the England Cricket Team.....

How and why news of Kevin Pietersen trying to 'un-retire' in the one day format of the game, having only just given up all but test cricket a few weeks go, has made its way into the public domain, the whole saga of Pietersen's demands, threatens to overshadow a monumentul three match series between England and South Africa.

The fact the series kicks off at the Kia Oval, home to Pietersen's county side, Surrey, is irrelevant, but what is of concern is that the row over Pietersen wanting to come back into the one day fold, is now turning critics and some of the cricketing public against Pietersen.

No one should be bigger than the team, but if we are believe the stories this week, then Pietersen and his people went back to the ECB and said he would make himself available again for all forms of the game, on the promise that he would be able to compete in the IPL to it's full schedule.

At present, contracted England players can only compete for 3 weeks of the IPL, due to the international calendar in this country, starting ealy in May.

Ironically, if Pietersen's demands were met, if as we believe they were, then he would have missed a couple of the opening test matches in an English summer.

Quite why he wanted to miss the longest form of the games, given he had just retired from one day cricket, is anyones guess.

Much respected amongst England cricket supporters, Jonathan Agnew, appears to have hit the nail on the head, when he pointed out that the IPL will still be around when Pietersen decides his international cricket is well and truly behind him, so why then need now to make these ridiculous demands.

It would seem that the KP soap opera has taken a turn for the worse this week, without doubt, not in his favour.
