If it hadn't have been for the rain at Edgbaston, the England cricket team would now be top of all the ICC ranking tables, but they can console themselves with having just whitewashed the olde enemy 4-0 in the ODI series....

Even the Manchester heavens couldn't stop the England juggernaught, as Alastair Cook and his men once again put the yellow jersey's to the sword in a rain reduced 5th ODI.

The day night game at the new look Old Trafford ground, was not able to start until 17:30, as the outfield required quite a lot of drying, but once play got underway, the pattern from the previous encounters was soon again in evidence.

England's bowlers stifled the Australian batsmen, who could only muster 145-7 from their reduced 32 overs. George Bailey was the only batsman of note, to get to any sort of grips with both the conditions and England's excellent bowling line up.

England were then set a revised target of 138 to win, inside 29 overs, and with Cook and Bopara both making life look easy, they reached it with 11 balls to spare.

It meant England took the trophy, and the bragging rights for a good 12 months, will it all change again for the Ashes this time next year?
