KP Could Have Missed WI ODI's

England Cricket Coach Andy Flower has admitted that he offered Kevin Pietersen the opportunity to miss the One Day Series with the West Indies, in the hope that he could continue playing in all forms of the game....

Pietersen shocked his England Cricket Team Mates, with his announcement to stand down from limited overs cricket, and just concentrate on test match cricket.

He did however, still want to continue in the shortest form, Twenty20, but his contract stated that he needed to play in the 50 over format as well, and no middle ground could be reached.

Now Flower has said, on the eve on the ODI series with the West Indies, that he had tried to tempt KP with the offer of missing some cricket this summer.

Talking to the Cricket Paper this week, the England coach said "the first part of a compromise would have been for him to miss the West Indies series".

"I tried on a number of occasions to disuade him for, what I beleive, is his own good, but he makes his own decisions."
